Reclaimed Wood from Pallets

il_570xN.91014812

Once upon a time I made a chicken coop out of reclaimed wood from an old bench and a few shipping pallets. That worked great (and is a post for another day), but now I have a bunch of pallet scraps lying around. I’m scheming to use them to organize my spice jars, like the spice rack by ReclaimFrames on Etsy, above. But I have grander plans. I want a built-in cabinet to hide the oil bottles and for it to also have a tea nook to display our tea accoutrements and maybe a collection of tiny spoons. Yes. I’ve been so busy with work lately that all my garden and construction projects have been on hold. Which is good, in it’s own way.

I learned how to break apart the pallets from this video. It’s good excercise and now I eyeball any pallets I pass on the sidewalk and imagine what I could turn them into, maybe with this really simple wood-aging trick from Lil Boo Blue.
